ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS:

.....

.....I believe the illegal immigration problem to be a very serious issue affecting our citizens and our country in a myriad of ways and it must be dealt with very quickly as it spiraling out of control. Illegal immigrants are just that, they are illegal, and should be treated as having broken the laws of our country and treated accordingly. We must address the core reason of why they want to come here if we are to solve this problem. If we only address trying to keep them out and punish them for being here, the problem will never go away.
.....We must stop the financial incentive for them to come here to truly solve the problem. That means stopping the tax free status and the free entitlements they enjoy while here and preventing them from being able to find work here through punishing those that employee them. This issue will require a three pronged approach by; 1) the federal government to secure the borders and; 2) pass tax reform, and; 3) the states to enact laws punishing businesses that hire illegal immigrants.
.....First, at the federal level we must commit to securing the borders through fencing or other technology as this will keep a majority of illegal immigrants out of the country. Unfortunately, we all know where there is a will there is a way and they will continue to make their way in somehow.
.....Secondly, we must address our payroll based tax structure that encourages people, whether legal or illegal, to work in a cash society. If you are an illegal immigrant, a drug dealer, a gang member, or a dishonest legal citizen, you can live in this country tax free and receive free entitlement benefits (welfare, housing, health care, etc).
.....Thirdly, we must require documentation of being a legal citizen through reliable means and require employers to confirm a new hire’s citizenship and we must punish employers who hire otherwise.
.....Our country was founded on the principals of personal responsibility and accountability and unfortunately we are moving toward becoming an entitlement state where citizens expect something for nothing and look to the federal government to provide for them. Allowing the illegal immigration problem to continue to grow is only strengthening that sector of society that expects a hand out and it degrades our country’s founding principals and thus it’s very foundation.
