..........I believe our country’s status as the preeminent place to live in the world is being threatened by high energy prices that are causing our country’s economic foundations to significantly deteriorate. The American Dream was achieved through scientific advancements and technological superiority over the past 100 years and has led to the freedom to believe in and achieve the American Dream of financial security. Citizens from other countries from all over the world aspire to have this dream. With the explosion of the global marketplace made possible by advances in global communications and shipping, Americans are in direct competition with other countries for the natural resources necessary to fuel the growth of these expanding global communities.
..........We must have leadership and expertise in Washington committed to understanding and recognizing these threats to our way of life, and who are determined to develop an energy model for the United States of America that ensures we are no longer at the mercy of foreign governments that do not have our best interest at heart. This leadership must have the technical intelligence and business judgment to understand the global economy for the foreseeable future and that it will be dependent on natural resources, not just scientific advancements. The natural resources of China, India, Russia, and The Middle East will threaten our American Dream as energy prices in America continue to increase to unaffordable levels that are, and will continue, to cripple our economy and our citizens. Three hundred million American citizens are now in competition with China’s 1.3 billion citizens and India’s 1.1 billion citizens for the American Dream, and it is time for a wake-up call in Washington.
.......... Suffice it to say the solution is long term and will require a national focus to achieve--but it can be done. It will require an enormous amount of work in Washington to build the coalitions necessary to make it happen and stay the course. I am not saying I have a simple solution in my back pocket, but I am saying the signs have been very clear over the past 35 years leading up to where we are now and someone currently in Washington should have seen it coming and made a difference!!! I feel our elected officials have been preoccupied with arguing across the aisle and have completely dropped the ball on energy, and it now stands to jeopardize our long term place in the global economy which threatens our way of life, my kids, and yours. We need people in Washington that can analytically think about historical and current events to determine long term policy for the betterment of the entire country and rise above the partisan bickering to build the relationships necessary to move this country forward.
.......... The alternative is a continued decline in America’s relevance in the World that may ultimately be superseded by countries with the natural resources and cash flow to prosper, such as China, India, Russia, The Middle East bloc of countries, and the EU (because the EU will cultivate acceptable relationships with the middle East and are much lower energy per capita users than the US). If we don’t make some substantial changes in the next 10 to 20 years with regards to energy, we will not like the world our grandchildren inherit 25 years from now.
..........I would call on Congress to begin developing an Apollo Energy Program with the same fortitude that our country supported the Space Program of the 1960’s. We must stop poking around Mars looking for microscopic signs of life to satisfy scientific curiosity and start developing a comprehensive energy program through intense scientific research that outlines how to meet our citizens’ future energy needs in an affordable and environmentally friendly manner in order to RESTORE THE AMERICAN DREAM.
.......... I also believe the primary reason our current policy makers in Washington have become ineffective in accomplishing the overall will of the American people is due to the effective strength of the career politicians that rule Washington in order to accomplish their personal goals to the detriment of the overall country’s well being. This will only be solved through the implementation of congressional term limits for all members of the House and Senate. Since we all realize that members of Congress have been opposed to limiting their terms, I would call on the individual states to push forward with a constitutional amendment to achieve this absolutely essential outcome.
.......... After you read my Biography, I think you will agree I am the choice for the SC District 1 Congressional Seat that will begin the process of restoring the leadership void in Washington with a high level of technical intelligence, business judgment, and integrity to go along with that leadership. I simply cannot sit on the sidelines any longer as an arm chair quarterback and watch our country and the American Dream continue to deteriorate when I know I have the abilities necessary to be a part of the solution. We must have a sound leadership voice in Washington and it needs to start now.
